Postdoctoral Position at the Department of Biochemistry and Redox Biology Center

A postdoctoral research associate position with competitive salary and benefit is available in Dr. Limei Zhang’s group for highly motivated candidates who are interested in redox biology, infectious disease and/or structural biology. The Zhang Group applies a suite of interdisciplinary tools to investigate the structure-mechanism relationships of metalloproteins in redox reaction, stress response and antibiotic resistance, with the support of two major federal grants. Job Responsibility: We seek a postdoc to investigate the roles and underlying mechanisms of bioactive molecules in metallocluster homeostasis and stress response. The duties of the postdoctoral fellow include independently design and conduct high-quality research experiments for the assigned project under the supervisor’s guidance; analyze data and draft manuscripts for publication; take roles in the lab maintenance with other group members; and assist the supervisor to mentor undergraduate and graduate students.

Qualifications: The Required qualifications include a recent Ph.D. degree (or expected soon) in biochemistry, chemistry, microbiology or a related field; a strong record in conducting high-quality research. Completion of Ph.D. is required prior to start of work. Preferred qualifications include expertise in advanced molecular biology (e.g. ChIP-seq, RNA-seq, or gene manipulation in bacteria) and microbiology, protein biochemistry and analytical biochemistry. Experience in transcriptional regulation or extraction of bioactive molecules is highly appreciated. A successful candidate is also expected to have good communication skills, work cooperatively on multidisciplinary projects, and have mentoring experience.
