A postdoctoral research position is available immediately in the Briken lab ( https://vbriken.wixsite.com/brikenlab ) in the Department of Cell Biology and Molecular Genetics (https://cbmg.umd.edu/) at the University of Maryland (College Park) which is situated in close proximity to Washington DC.
We are investigating the molecular mechanisms of host cell manipulation by the important human pathogen Mycobacterium tuberculosis. We are particularly interested in the interaction of the bacterium with host cell death signaling and the activation of the host cell inflammasome complex.
I am seeking a highly motivated individual who has an interest in infectious disease and a strong track record in cell biology using experimental approaches including immunofluorescence microscopy, flow cytometry, Western blotting and immunoprecipitation. A Ph.D. in a related field is required.
The position is open now and for an initial 1-year period which is expected to be extended provided satisfactory performance. The salary is commensurate with experience. Please submit a CV and the contact info of three referees (including the current advisor) via email ( vbriken at umd.edu).
