Postdoctoral position in enzyme structure-function studies of fatty acid and polyketide synthases

Employer

Location
West Lafayette, Indiana
Salary
$47,500 per year + benefits
Closing date

A postdoctoral position is available in the lab of Jeremy Lohman at Purdue University. We seek a highly motivated candidate to join an R01-supported research project focused on investigating the structure-function relationships of fatty acid and polyketide synthase biosynthetic enzymes. The Lohman lab is collaborating with the Wen Jiang and Carol Post labs at Purdue to determine how fatty acid and polyketide synthase enzymes recognize substrates at the atomic level (X-ray crystallography) and how those interactions generate allosteric regulation (Cryo-EM and NMR). The Lohman lab has used synthetic organic chemistry to generate substrate, intermediate and product analogs that enable these structural biology studies.

Applicants with a recent Ph.D. or equivalent degree and experience in structural biology, biophysics, or enzymology and a demonstrable record of research success will be preferred. Interested applicants should submit their curriculum vitae, along with a cover letter stating their research interests and career goals, and the names and contact information of three references to Jeremy Lohman (jlohman@purdue.edu).
