Director of The Roslin Institute

The Roslin Institute at the University of Edinburgh is supported by Institute Strategic Programme (ISP) grant funding from the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC).  The Institute is located on the Easter Bush Campus on the south side of Edinburgh and is embedded within the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies as part of the College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine.  The Institute provides a world-leading research environment in the broad field of animal sciences, with a particular focus on genetics and genomics, infection and immunity and data driven innovation in agriculture.

The University and the BBSRC are seeking to appoint an outstanding scientist and visionary leader to this prestigious post. The ideal candidate will be an exceptional scientist with an international reputation and an excellent track record in any area of research relevant to the Institute’s strategic mission.  The candidate will need to show a clear vision for the future of the Institute, demonstrable leadership and strategic skills, an inclusive approach to building a productive research culture, with the ability to forge new partnerships nationally and internationally. The new director will be expected to lead their own internationally competitive programme of research.

This is a senior appointment by the University of Edinburgh; as such a competitive salary will be offered and will be negotiable depending on experience. The successful applicant will be employed as a University Professor on University terms and conditions.
