Job Details

The EPFL School of Life Sciences will support candidates who wish to apply to the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) PRIMA program for excellent women researchers (SNSF deadline: November 1, 2021).

EPFL will support applications of researchers working in any area of the life sciences, but quantitative and computational biology are particularly encouraged.

PRIMA grants are aimed at excellent women researchers who show a high potential for obtaining a professorship. PRIMA grants cover the PI’s salary as well as project funds for a 5-year period (http://www.snf.ch/en/funding/careers/prima/Pages/default.aspx).

The vibrant interdisciplinary research community at the EPFL School of Life Sciences fosters interactions with allied disciplines on campus, including engineering, physics, chemistry and computer sciences. EPFL offers an English-speaking work environment, competitive salaries and benefits. EPFL strives to increase the diversity of its researchers and strongly encourages women to apply.

The EPFL School of Life Sciences will evaluate pre-applications for potential institutional support in July 2021, a few months ahead of the official SNSF deadline.

Your pre-application to EPFL must include: Your brief CV (max 2-3 pages), a publication list (with complete author list and annotation of the applicant’s contributions), and a 3-page research proposal for the 5-year period in one PDF file not exceeding 5 Mb. You should also indicate 2-3 referees who will submit reference letters (do not include letters in the pre-application file).

Company

EPFL is one of the two Swiss Federal Institutes of Technology. With the status of a national school since 1969, the young engineering school has grown in many dimensions, to the extent of becoming one of the most famous European institutions of science and technology. Like its sister institution in Zurich, ETHZ, it has three core missions: training, research and technology transfer. Associated with several specialized research institutes, the two Ecoles polytechniques (Institutes of Technology) form the EPF domain, which is directly dependent on the Federal Department of Home Affairs.
EPFL is located in Lausanne in Switzerland, on the shores of the largest lake in Europe, Lake Geneva and at the foot of the Alps and Mont-Blanc. Its main campus brings together over 11,000 persons, students, researchers and staff in the same magical place. Because of its dynamism and rich student community, EPFL has been able to create a special spirit imbued with curiosity and simplicity. Daily interactions amongst students, researchers and entrepreneurs on campus give rise to new scientific, technological and architectural projects.
