Responsibilities:

The successful candidate is expected to have an outstanding track record in the field of terrestrial remote sensing, with a focus on research into the dynamics of land-surface processes.

The successful candidate is also expected to have a proven track record of international publications and research in the field of remote sensing of terrestrial climate systems and/or geo-resources research, and use their methodological expertise in geodata analysis (e.g., hyperspectral methods, data assimilation, and modeling) to support the development of complex geoinformation systems.

The future post holder will teach quantitative methods in physical geography, with a focus on remote sensing, geoinformation systems (GIS), and geoinformatics. We expect the successful candidate to have very good teaching skills and be prepared to contribute to undergraduate teaching in all degree programs in the teaching unit.

The professorship is integrated into the Cluster of Excellence Climate, Climatic Change, and Society (CLICCS) and the Center for Earth System Research and Sustainability (CEN) at Universität Hamburg. The successful candidate is expected to work with other research groups in the department, in the faculty, and in interdisciplinary projects within Universität Hamburg.

Academic qualifications and additional requirements as specified in Section 15 HmbHG.

Additional Criteria:

Applicants are expected to have international research experience as well as a successful track record in acquiring external funding and carrying out externally funded projects. The University places particular emphasis on the quality of teaching and therefore requests that applicants provide details of their teaching experience and objectives.

The post holder is expected to acquire the language skills necessary to teach in German (Level C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) within two years of commencing employment.
