The primary purpose of the Research Assistant II is to provide technical and coordination skills in carrying out various research projects. Impacts laboratory research activities of high volume mice colonies.

The primary purpose of the Research Assistant II is to provide technical and coordination skills in carrying out various research projects. Impacts laboratory research activities of high volume mice colonies.
Key Functions
- Responsible for coordinating and performing daily animal care of transgenic mice and health flagging. Routine husbandry such as weaning, toe and tail docking, making doxy water, etc.
- Ensure the ventilated cage rack system and automated drinking water system are operating correctly and reports alarms or malfunctions to supervisor immediately.
- Ensure cleanliness and sanitation of animal housing and ancillary areas.
- Records data in the appropriate hardcopy of electronic system. Ensure that data is entered in a timely manner.
- Ensures the correct animal identification is placed on animals. Confers and reports any discrepancies to the supervisor.
- Assists with lab ordering and organization and ensures supplies are adequately stocked.
- Maintains environment cleanliness.
- Assist the supervisor with ensuring compliance with federal/MDACC safety requirements.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
