The laboratory of Nathaniel Snyder in the Center for Metabolic Disease Research at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University is looking for multiple postdoctoral fellows. Ideally, the candidate should be a recent graduate holding a PhD or equivalent degree in biomedical sciences (or with a graduation date in 2021). Co-mentored positions with Drs. Kathryn Wellen (University of Pennsylvania), Katherine Aird (University of Pittsburgh), or Jennifer Adibi (University of Pittsburgh) are also available in the laboratory and interested candidates should indicate this in their cover letter.

Ability and desire to bring new skills as well as diversity in thought, background, and training to the laboratory will be considered favorably. Demonstrated scientific writing skills and comfort in working with diverse biospecimens will also be considered favorably. Experience working both independently and under direction is also critical.  Ideally, the candidate should have some experience with quantitative liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry applied to biological specimens but this is not a pre-requisite if the candidate can bring other skills to the laboratory and is interested in learning and applying LC-MS.

The fellow will perform scientific experiments within the research laboratory, with a wide discretion on topic to focus on.  The fellow will be expected to handle three projects- one from existing projects within the laboratory, one project with collaborators, and critically, to develop their own independent project. Current research projects in the laboratory are available focused on studies of metazoan metabolism, isotope tracing, and/or targeted and untargeted metabolomics/ lipidomics/ exposomics. The fellow will be responsible for designing, developing, and conducting research including data collection, maintaining research records, results analysis, manuscript drafting, and grant writing.  The fellow will be given opportunities to train junior staff and students in research methods, and to attend and present their data at national and/or international conferences. Previous postdoctoral fellows from the laboratory are government and industry scientists, community college professors, and independent tenure-track professors. Cover letter, 1 page research statement, and CV should be sent to NateWSnyder@temple.edu.
