This is a regular, full-time Tenure-track faculty appointment within the UNR School of Medicine at the rank of Assistant Professor. To be considered, candidates must be eligible to become a Project Leader on the Center’s COBRE Program grant. The successful candidate will receive a generous startup package, a minimum of three years of project support through the COBRE, and formal, proactive mentorship from a group of multi-disciplinary, internationally recognized faculty performing cutting-edge cardiovascular research with a strong emphasis on intercellular and intracellular signaling pathways. The Center supports two advanced Core laboratory facilities: A transgenic animal genotyping and phenotyping core, and a high temporal and spatial resolution imaging core. Notable capabilities and instrumentation available through these cores include radiotelemetry monitoring of blood pressure and heart rate in mice, echocardiography, sable metabolic cage, in vivo optogenetic modulation of neuronal activity and blood flow in the brain, in vivo multiphoton microscopy, single-molecule localization super-resolution microscopy, and lattice lightsheet microscopy.  Preference will be given to candidates with the ability and intent to utilize one or more of these cutting-edge technologies.

Research areas of interest include, but are not limited to neural mechanisms involved in the etiology of systemic and pulmonary hypertension, cerebral small vessel disease and vascular-related dementia, neural mechanisms and autonomic control of cardiovascular and metabolic diseases, ion channels and cell-surface receptors in cardiovascular disease, cellular basis of cardiac arrhythmogenesis and sudden cardiac death, and the molecular biology of vascular development and remodeling.
