The Yang Lab at Division of Cancer Biology of Department of Medicine in MetroHealth Research Center have an immediately available Ph.D. level Researcher/Research Fellow position to study the mechanism of cancer initiation, progression and develop mechanism-based strategies to treat and prevent cancer. The mechanistic studies focus on the roles of epigenetic dysregulations including DNA methylation, histone posttranslational modifications, non-coding RNA (especially long non-coding RNAs) and functional RNA modification (m6A) dysregulations in cancer initiation, metastasis and therapeutic responses using cell culture and genetically modified mouse models. Competitive salaries and benefits will be provided to qualified candidates. Candidates should have a recent Ph.D. degree with strong background in following one or more areas including cell/molecular biology, cancer biology, immunology, toxicology or chemistry. Experiences in studying cancer epigenetics, non-coding RNAs especially long non-coding RNAs, functional RNA modifications especially the m6A modification, cancer stem cells, nanoparticle-mediated drug delivery or immunotherapies with excellent skills in cloning and manipulating genes, culturing mammalian cells, handling mice, performing surgeries to produce tumors in mice and treating mice with commonly-used drug/toxicant administration approaches would be advantageous. In addition, the qualified candidates are expected to be highly self-motivated with strong interests in learning new knowledge and techniques; have excellent communication and organizational skills and attention to details; be capable of conceptualizing, designing experiments and conducting studies independently as well as cooperatively with other lab members as a team; and have the capability to write manuscripts for quality publications.
