About Tianjin University

About TJU-NUS Joint Institute in Fuzhou

The Cooperation Agreement on Establishment of Tianjin University-National University of Singapore Joint Institute in Fuzhou was signed by People’s Government of Fuzhou City, Education Department of Fujian Province, Tianjin University and National University of Singapore on 1/12/2018 to co-establish TJU-NUS Joint Institute in Fuzhou (Joint Institute). As a secondary institution of Tianjin University, the Joint Institute is committed to developing into a world-class Chinese-foreign cooperatively-run school, educating top talents ready for the future, through the melding of the merits of both universities. It aims to develop strategic and innovative research with focus on the areas of flexible electronics, emerging photoelectron techniques, advanced manufacturing technologies, energy catalysis and environment, in support of national strategic objectives as well as local socioeconomic development

Employment Period and Remuneration Package

From its inception, the Joint Institute has attracted 20 PIs from both universities, recruited 59 doctoral students with excellent academic qualifications, and 12 postdoctoral researchers. It has published 62 academic papers in world-class journals, and successfully convened two sessions of Steering Committee meetings, continuously widening the scope of strategic cooperation.
At present, the construction of the campus and supporting facilities are in full swing. The shared analysis center and the scientific research laboratory building have been started with the allocate funds put in place. The strong support of the government together with the joint efforts of the invaluable personnel of both universities will enable the Joint Institute to build a high-level, open, and international first-class platform. The Joint Institute aims to uphold a single vision to foster and cultivate talents that help shape the future of higher education and contribute to the socioeconomic development of Fuzhou and Fujian through a focus on continuous innovation and frontier technologies.

Recruitment Information 1

Number of Recruits: 10

Position: Principal Investigator (PI) of TJU-NUS Joint Institute in Fuzhou

Salary: Negotiable;

Scientific research guarantee:

1. Each PI team will be provided with a research space of not less than 500 square meters, including a dedicated laboratory and a teacher and graduate student workspace;
2. After the establishment of the scientific research team, the five-year scientific research start-up fund support for each team can be up to RMB 10,000,000 which can be directly used for the procurement of related core research facilities and consumables, and expenses covering testing, small-sized equipment and travel, etc.
3. The Joint Institute will have an experimental space totaling about 2,500 square meters, equipped with high-end analysis and experimental equipment with a total value of about RMB 150,000,000, for shared use by all faculty groups in the Institute;
4. The Strategic Research Fund established by the Joint Institute has a total maximum amount of RMB 60,000,000 over five years.

Team Support:  Each year, two doctoral students allocation will be provided for PI’s Team, and during the term, 2-3 associate Research fellows and 2-3 postdoctoral fellows will be distributed for PI as well.

Settlement Fee:  High level talent policy of Fujian Province applied.

Other Supportive Policies: Arrangements for children schoolings. After joining, applicants will be granted the qualification of running for the Dean of Joint Intuition.

Job Responsibilities

1. Applicant shall carry out relevant work around the construction of key disciplines, scientific research, teaching and other aspects of the Joint Institute;

2. Applicant shall actively participate in the preparation and approval requirements and procedures of Chinese-foreign cooperatively-run schools;

3. Applicant shall undertake research and technology development in flexible electronics and emerging optoelectronics, advanced chemical manufacturing technology, green and renewable energy technologies, energy storage technologies, and energy catalysis and environmental fields to promote the technology transfer in Fuzhou City.

4. Applicant shall take the Joint Institute as the first unit when completing the declaration of national and local scientific and technological projects, publish high-level papers and apply for patents.

5. Applicant shall instruct the research assistants, post-doctors, masters, and doctoral students of the research group to carry out relevant research and development work, and the teaching and training of students after the Joint Institute is approved by the Ministry of Education.

Qualifications

1. Applicant must abide by the Constitution and the laws and regulations of People's Republic of China and be passionate for higher education. He/she should also be a good teaching role model,with an eye for rigorous scholarship, and possess professional ethics, an innovative mind and good team spirit. He/she should also be in appropriate physical condition to perform their duties;

2. Applicant shall have professionals or skills that meet the requirements of the position. Their research fields should include flexible electronics and emerging optoelectronics, advanced chemical manufacturing technology, green and renewable energy technology, energy storage technology, and energy catalysis and environmental research;

3. Applicant must have formal teaching or scientific research positions in well-known overseas universities, scientific research institutions or well-known enterprise R & D institutions. They shall have worked continuously for more than 36 months overseas after obtaining a Ph.D. Concessions may be made for candidates of exceptional caliber.

Employment Period and Remuneration Package

Salary: Negotiable

Settlement Fee: Local talent policy of Fujian Province shall be adopted, and the relevant standard shall be implemented in accordance with the policies of Fuzhou City.

Qualifications

For Associate Research Fellow

1. Applicant must abide by the Constitution and the laws and regulations of People's Republic of China and be passionate for higher education. He/she should also be a good teaching role model,with an eye for rigorous scholarship, and possess professional ethics, an innovative mind and good team spirit. He/she should also be in appropriate physical condition to perform their duties.

2. Applicant should have a Ph.D. degree obtained from an international high-level university or research institution. For those without an international education background, their bachelor's degree, master's degree and doctoral degree must be obtained from a high-level university in China (or an institution of Chinese Academy of Sciences with equivalent level). Concessions may be made for candidates of exceptional caliber.

3. Research-oriented associate research fellow should have no less than 2 years of postdoctoral or work experience, and those with overseas research experience are preferred. Concessions may be made for candidates of exceptional caliber when they have insufficient work experience.

4. Application-oriented associate research fellow should have work experience in application-oriented research and possess good communication skills and willingness in application-oriented research. A corporate work experience or industry-education-research integration experience is also demanded. Those with outstanding performance as the group leader or the core member of industry-education-research integration projects are preferred.

For Assistant Research Fellow

Position: Postdoctoral Fellow

Job Responsibilities

1. Applicant shall undertake scientific research and be able to independently carry out basic scientific research work.

2. Applicant shall assist his/her tutor in the application of scientific research projects and participate in other research work as required.

Qualifications

2. Applicant should have a doctorate degree in chemistry, physics, materials, chemical industry, microelectronics or other related disciplines. 4. The doctoral degree shall be obtained within two years. Part-time work will not be accepted, the post-doctoral research is full-time during the whole employment period.

Job Responsibilities

Assist Director and Deputy Director of the Analysis Center Platform ("Analysis Platform") of the Joint Institute in construction and operation management of the analysis platform, and provide support and services for various characterization and experimental work of the Joint Institute and TJU Fuzhou International Campus, the responsibilities include:

1. Collect and summarize the opinions and suggestions of the Equipment Steering Committee and end users on the platform construction.

2. Equipment maintenance and performance tuning, user (such as student) training, and offer advice to the Deputy Director of the Analysis Center and Equipment Steering Committee.

3. Participate in training for important instruments and assist Director / Deputy Director of the Analysis Platform to develop core courses of equipment technology / vacuum technology.

Qualifications

1. Applicant must abide by the Constitution and the laws and regulations of People's Republic of China and be passionate for higher education.
