The Genomic Immunology sits within the Adaptative Immunology Research Unit and has a presence at our growing Cambridge, MA (US) site and at our R&D hub in Stevenage (UK). Our group strives to explore rich data landscape (23andMe, UK Biobank, FinnGen) to derive crucial insights, to identify new targets associated with autoimmune disorders with unmet need and build drug hypotheses, and to validate therapeutic targets by integrating our groundbreaking functional genomics experimental platform. This approach maximizes the probability of delivering successful clinical candidates, and ultimately helping people to do more, feel better and live longer.

Description:

The Genomic Immunology research team in Cambridge, MA is seeking a self-motivated, energetic and creative immunologist with critical and innovative thinking to take part in the development of novel therapeutics for the treatment immune disorders with high unmet medical need. This individual will work independently and/or in partnership with dynamic cross-functional project teams in a multidisciplinary matrixed environment to investigate the biology of novel targets using functional molecular genomic tools and to make significant and high-impact contributions in multiple GSK drug discovery programs.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform hands-on experimentation using a wide range of molecular and cellular techniques suitable for drug target identification and validation.
  • Design and conduct human and rodent cell- and tissue-based immunoassays for target identification and validation.
  • Generate, analyze, interpret, present experimental results at various meetings to partners/collaborators and collaboratively plan experimental paths forward
  • Develop and execute new methods and protocols and proactively incorporate new technology or techniques into practice with minimal supervision
  • Generate study reports and maintain a detailed record of experiments in electronic lab notebooks in accordance with company policy
  • Share in responsibilities to support general lab functions


Why you?

Basic Qualifications:
  • Degree in immunology, biology, life sciences, molecular biology, cell biology, biotechnology or other related discipline.
  • MS with 3+ years, or BS with 5+ years of experience in moleculare and cellular immunology, research and development, in an industrial, academic or government laboratory setting.
  • Hands-on experience in molecular biology techniques and proficiency in utilizing functional genomic editing tools
  • Expertise in multicolor Flow-cytometry analysis for phenotypic screening and target ID/validation in cell lines or primary immune cells.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Cell culture: Isolation and sterile tissue culture of mammalian cell lines and immune cell subsets
  • Cell-based assay development using primary rodent and human immune cells and immortalized cell lines
  • Molecular biology including but not limited to nucleic acid extraction and quality control, qPCR, NanoString, CRISPR gene editing, Microarray ,) Next Generation Sequencing (e.g. single cell RNA-Seq)
  • Multicolor Flow-cytometry analysis (set-up, acquisition, analysis and reporting)
  • Protein detection (included but not limited to ELISA, Luminex, MSD, Western blotting)
  • Pre-clinical animal models of autoimmune disorders
  • Previous drug discovery experience in a biopharmaceutical setting
  • Learning agility and drive to continuously improve and develop
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills as well as excellent interpersonal skills
