Postdoctoral researcher will perform experiments related to the mechanisms of vitamin B6 (PLP) dependent enzymes. The experiments are largely kinetic in nature. Computational (molecular dynamics) calculations will also be a significant component of the work. The project involves connecting protein motions to enzyme catalysis by measuring the activation heat capacity change (deltaCpǂ) and calculating the same quantity by molecular dynamics. The researcher will also lead the lab safety compliance effort, interact directly with collaborators, mentor undergraduate and graduate students, and generally be the leader of the lab environment.
Qualifications:
PhD or equivalent required. Must have experience performing rapid reaction (stopped-flow, etc) and steady-state enzyme kinetic measurements. Experience expressing proteins in E coli and their purification necessary. Experience in optical spectroscopy and structural biology a plus.
