Agricultural Systems Modeller 

  • Full time, fixed-term position for 2 years with a possibility of extension
  • Based in Launceston
  • Participate in high quality research
  • Participate in the teaching of modelling in undergraduate units

The Opportunity

Leading and participating in the research to model crop and livestock production systems to assist agricultural and food sectors in Tasmania in their decisions related to climate change and carbon neutrality.  The role also undertakes the delivery of learning and teaching to undergraduates and postgraduates.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Delivering learning and teaching of agricultural systems modelling, in the Institute’s undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programs including the Bachelor of Agricultural Science and Master of Applied Science.
  • Conducting systems research with a range of agricultural models (e.g. APSIM, DairyMod, DayCent) and tools.
  • Taking a leading role in carbon-neutral livestock systems research and use/develop crop and livestock greenhouse gas accounting tools.
  • Design and lead key projects, including the effective leadership of others involved in the project/s.
  • Conduct training workshops with the agricultural community.

Your Application

To be successful in the role, your application will need to demonstrate;

  • A PhD or equivalent in a relevant field.
  • Experience of the delivery of teaching to undergraduate or postgraduate students, either face to face or online.
  • Evidence of engaging and interacting with farmers and the agricultural community.
  • Experience in both the design and leading of projects.

Remuneration

Appointment to this role will be at Academic Level C and will have a total remuneration package of up to $158,046 comprising base salary within the range of $118,946 to $135,082 plus 17% superannuation.
