The Institute of Infection, Immunity and Inflammation, MRC University of Glasgow Centre for Virus Research (CVR) is seeking an experienced researcher to work within CRUSH (COVID-19 Drug-Screening and Resistance Hub), a new Facility established as a translational arm of the CVR and aimed to facilitate interactions with industry and academia on drug screening projects of SARS-CoV-2 or any other high consequence virus requiring BSL3 containment level facilities. The post-holder will be specifically responsible, in conjunction with the Academic Lead of CRUSH, to carry out R&D projects, for example develop new assays and pipelines, directly related to the work of CRUSH. 

 

 

The CVR is a unique international research centre with a critical mass of researchers entirely dedicated to the study of viral diseases. The CVR’s collegiate and collaborative environment fosters a broad research portfolio. Research at the CVR spans molecular, structural and cellular levels through to the individual host and affected population, integrating molecular and structural virology, cell biology, pathogenesis, epidemiology and mathematical modelling, virus genomics and bioinformatics.

The Laboratory is placed in the Sir Michael Stoker Building in a beautiful park in the Garscube Estate in Glasgow, Scotland’s largest city and the fourth largest in the UK

Glasgow is a cultural city with a large selection of museums, theatres, live music venues and it is the home of the Scottish Opera, the Scottish Ballet, the Royal Scottish National Orchestra and other arts organisations.  Glasgow is surrounded by beautiful countryside including the stunning Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park.

The position is funded on a full-time basis until 31 March 2023 but there may be scope to extend this further.
