We wish to appoint two Simons Postdoctoral Fellows to contribute to the development of a programme of high quality research as part of the Simons Initiative for the Developing Brain, University of Edinburgh College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine. Applicant should have relevant experience using either behavioural assessment of rat models of ASD/ID and/or in vitro imaging and physiological assessment of pre- and post-synaptic function and/or in vivo imaging and/or physiological assessment of pre- and post-synaptic function. Appropriate degree, with relevant post-graduate research experience, normally a PhD or equivalent professional qualification and/or experience in cellular, molecular or systems area of neuroscience is required. Expertise in relevant approaches and models, analytical techniques and methods experiments is required.
The Opportunity:
Contribute as a key team member to a programme of research into circuit mechanisms that underlie the physiological and anatomical manifestations of autism and intellectual disability with a specific focus on CDKL5 deficiency Syndrome and SYNGAP haploinsufficiency. Responsibility for delivering core elements of the research programme by conducting and analysing experiments to address the physiological mechanisms that underlie cognitive deficits with specific focus on hippocampus and cerebral cortex.
