As a member of the IT Procurement team, you will work closely with partners and leaders across multiple business lines in support of sourcing needs across the Technology category. This growth opportunity will also provide the Sourcing Manager the chance to interact, present, and influence senior leadership to gain support for key initiatives and strategies. You will engage with existing and potential suppliers and drive partnerships at the executive level. You will manage various supplier activities, including requirements gathering, solution/supplier evaluation process, and supplier selection activities. You will lead the negotiations and spearhead RFXs and competitive bids as necessary, along with devising or assisting in the development of cost models during your sourcing negotiations. You will assist with establishing enterprise-wide Software contracts to meet corporate and BU production-related needs and will take a leadership role in supporting Software asset management (SAM) and ensuring that Gilead Sciences Inc (GSI) is properly licensed.

This role requires strong negotiation experience and legal understanding of the intricacies of structuring and drafting various agreements, you will work with Business Units, Legal, Compliance, and Security Teams to initiate and review contracts.

JOB FUNCTIONS:

Category Management/Strategy

  • Contributes to contract development and implementation in conjunction with Category Manager(s)

  • Supports and assists in the execution of the category plans for Software/Cloud/Hardware

  • Runs regional/program/project RFx and support Category Manager(s) as needed

  • Creates and implements sourcing strategies for specified business needs which support project, program or category goals

  • Analyzes vendor opportunities and aligns with Category Manager(s) to realize the utilization of the strategic / preferred vendor

  • Works with business units and Category Manager(s) to assess short-term and long-term supplier strategy, with a feedback loop to the global team

  • Build dual or preferred supplier base programs with the business.

  • Actively researches market trends and utilizes standard methodologies to support sourcing activities

  • Collaborate with IT & Engineering Teams on IT Software Asset Management (SAM) needs.

    Supplier Management

  • Organize and lead business reviews with suppliers, including development, performance metrics, preparation and review of supplier scorecards, and resolving major supplier performance issues.

  • Analyzes vendor performance to ensure it is consistent with value required for a given commodity or service

  • Manage third party vendor relationships for IT Procurement

  • Facilitates business reviews for key suppliers

    Contract Management/Negotiations

  • Supports category manager(s) in developing negotiation plans

  • Experience using different negotiation tactics; shown success negotiating multi-million-dollar contracts including business terms and Service Level Agreements (SLAs)

  • Experience supporting legal teams in contract development activities, including knowledge of standard contract structures and key terms

  • Has knowledge of legal clauses and negotiations with industry suppliers, including NDAs, MSA, MPA, Order Forms, and Software licensing agreements

  • Partners with Legal on the contract lifecycle

    Cost Reduction

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret spend and cost data, including understanding of Total Cost of Ownership

  • Proactively identifies, implements and project manages cost reduction, risk and service quality improvement in conjunction with Category Manager(s)

  • Collect data and perform spend analysis, profile category, analyze/report data to explain market trends, savings and improvement opportunities.

  • Utilize procurement system technologies to reduce the total cost of goods and services.

    BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Engineering, Supply Chain or a related field

  • 3+ years of experience in Technology Sourcing with strong negotiation skills in all the following:

    1. Software & SaaS

    2. Public Cloud

    3. Hardware & Leasing

  • 3+ years' experience in reviewing, drafting, and negotiating commercial contracts with technology suppliers

  • High degree of judgment and ingenuity required to deal with complex factors not easily evaluated

  • Experience in IT Asset and Procurement tools is desirable, e.g. Arriba, SCCM, Flexera, etc.

  • Knowledge of Technology Infrastructure Procurement category

    SPECIFIC SKILLS:

  • A highly organized multi-tasker who can prioritize in a fast-paced environment; ability to actively lead 10-20 projects at any time and self-prioritize daily work

  • Able to work independently with strong teamwork, communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills

  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to derive 2nd level insights from unstructured data

  • An ability to think Globally and work with an international culturally diverse team

  • Strategic thinker, with sound knowledge of strategic purchasing methods

  • Demonstrated ability to implement creative solutions while working under pressure.

  • Demonstrated influencing, negotiation, presentation and stakeholder management skills
