Assistant/Associate Professors in Biochemistry

The Department of Biochemistry, a basic science department of the Emory University School of Medicine, is seeking to hire Assistant/Associate Professors (tenure-track) with expertise in biochemical, biophysical, structural or related approaches. Research in the department encompasses a wide array of mechanistic studies aimed at better understanding diverse, fundamental biological processes with potential or established links to human health and disease. These include but are not limited to the study of transcription and translation, neurodegenerative diseases, and infectious diseases (for further details see: http://www.biochem.emory.edu/). Current departmental faculty also bridge the School of Medicine’s research mission through participation in broader initiatives such as the Winship Cancer Institute (an NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center), the Emory Vaccine Center and the Goizueta Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center. Opportunities abound for synergy throughout the School of Medicine and the Emory College of Arts & Sciences, as well as with nearby institutions such as Georgia Tech and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Faculty members in the department have ready access to extensive state-of-the-art instrumentation for the broad sweep of biomedical research, including electron microscopes and mass spectrometers, operated within the department and through the many Emory Integrated Core Facilities.

Candidates must have a Ph.D. (or equivalent) and postdoctoral experience in biochemistry or a closely related discipline. Selection criteria for these positions include a track record of scientific productivity as evidenced by primary research publications, current and proposed future extramural funding, synergy with current research in the department and throughout the university, as well as the candidates’ future research vision and potential to contribute to graduate and medical student teaching. Successful candidates will be expected to build a dynamic, independent research program that is designed to impact our fundamental understanding of biological processes that contribute to defining the molecular basis of human health and disease and that could lead to the identification and/or development of potential treatments.

Applicants must apply online at https://faculty-emory.icims.com/jobs/67201/job to be considered. The following information is required:
1. Cover letter highlighting key qualifications.
2. Current curriculum vitae with complete bibliography.
3. Names and contact information of three references.
4. A research statement comprising descriptions of past accomplishments, description/summary of 3 publications that best epitomize the relevant skills of the applicant, and future research goals (not to exceed 3 pages in total).
5. A statement (< 1 page) of how you have encouraged or plan to encourage diversity, equity and inclusion.

Application questions should be emailed to: BiochemFacSearch@emory.edu

Initial review of applications will begin immediately and will be considered on a rolling basis until the positions are filled.
