One postdoctoral scholar position in molecular and structural biology is available in the laboratory of Wei-Jen Tang (https://benmay.uchicago.edu/faculty/wei-jen-tang-phd) at the University of Chicago. Applicants must have a recent Ph.D. or equivalent degree in structural biology, biochemistry, biophysics, or a related field, and a demonstrable record of research success as evidenced by publication(s) in peer-reviewed journals. Experience with protein crystallography or macromolecular microscopy is highly desirable but not required.

We seek a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow with excellent English communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a research team to join an R01-supported research project focused on investigating the structure and function of human proteases that degrade amyloid beta.

The Tang lab is broadly interested in understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying the activity of clinically relevant enzymes, and a successful applicant will be given latitude to develop a research project of personal interest within this umbrella. Active projects in the lab currently include the study of human proteases involved in diabetes and Alzheimer’s disease, investigating the role of cytokines in inflammation, and exploring how bacterial toxins disrupt host cell processes.

The Tang lab fosters a highly collaborative environment and offers the opportunity to interact with world-class researchers in the Chicago area and across the nation through longstanding, successful, collaboration.

Interested applicants should submit their curriculum vitae, along with a cover letter stating their research interests and career goals, and the names and contact information of three references to Wei-Jen Tang (wtang@bsd.uchicago.edu).
