Position Summary:
A Research Associate I position is immediately available in the Department of Diabetes and Cancer Metabolism at City of Hope. This position requires experience with biochemistry and analytical chemistry (high-performance liquid chromatography) and is focused on investigating the role of metabolic alterations in disease development. The individual will be required to collect and analyze data, write, and present methods and results, and work with other individuals in the laboratory to coordinate investigations.

Key Responsibilities include:
  • Utilize laboratory equipment and established protocols, to perform a variety of research experiments. Record and validate results for accuracy and completeness.
  • May modify protocols
  • Write standard operating procedures and reports
  • Maintain records of work performed including results and methodology. Utilize records and may calculate, graph and compile data.
  • Develop techniques and expertise in one or more areas relevant to laboratory research project.
  • Ensure that all laboratory activities are carried out in compliance with safety procedures and guidelines in handling, storage and disposal of materials.


Qualifications
Basic education, experience and skills required for consideration:
  • Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry, Molecular or Cellular Biology, Chemistry, or related field
  • 0-2 years of research or laboratory experience
  • Experience with biochemical techniques, analytical chemistry, and cell culture systems
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team
  • Independently collect and analyze data
  • Strong organizational skills
