Position Summary
A Staff Scientist position is available in the Mass Spectrometry and Proteomics Core Facility at City of Hope. The Staff Scientist series is designed for career research professionals whose primary function is to support the research infrastructure and activities of the institution. Staff Scientists will bring special skills, knowledge and experience to research programs or institutional core laboratories.

The Mass Spectrometry and Proteomics Core Facility provides analytical services to interested scientists on campus as well as to extramural entities. Under the direct supervision of the core Director, the incumbent will work closely with other members of the core. He/She will be supporting all activities of the core from sample preparation to data analysis, project management and costing, and will interact daily with core users and customers. The incumbent will also assist in manuscript preparation, grant proposal development and progress reports.

Qualifications
Basic education, experience and skills required for consideration:
  • Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Analytical Chemistry or related fields is desired.
  • Prior training and research experience in the field of mass spectrometry

Preferred education, experience and skills required for consideration:
  • Experienced in experimental design, technical execution, data analysis and presentation of mass spectrometry findings
  • Peer-reviewed publication track record in mass spectrometry, quantitative proteomics and/or metabolomics with a focus in cancer biology, diabetes, molecular pathways and signal transduction
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experienced in sample preparation and mass spectrometric analyses of proteins, peptides, small molecules and lipids on a variety of instruments, including Orbitrap mass spectrometers (MS), triple quadrupole MS, quadrupole TOF MS, liquid chromatography systems, and data processing.
  • Skilled in project management, reporting and budgeting of experiments
