Two postdoctoral fellow positions are available in the labs of Dr. John F. Hancock and Dr. Yong Zhou (one opening in each lab) in the department of Integrative Biology and Pharmacology, at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. We are interested in understanding critical roles of the lipid-anchored small GTPases in cancer. Our approach integrates quantitative super-resolution imaging, molecular/cellular biology and mouse models and uses a variety of in vitro and in vivo assay systems. We also work with an interdisciplinary team with expertise ranging from theoretical molecular dynamic simulations, molecular biology, drug discovery/screening and animal models across the Texas Medical Center.

Postdoctoral trainees will have full access to a state-of-the-art imaging facility, a Nikon Center of Excellence, one of 19 in the country.  Trainees will work closely with the PI to develop their independent research plans and career development plans. We emphasize all-around development of our trainees for future career in either academia or industry. Our department and our medical school offer extensive postdoctoral training programs, including grant writing courses and postdoctoral training certificate program.
