National Sales Manager - Hepatitis

UK & Ireland

In this position you will be managing a group of six highly experienced Therapeutic Specialists (TS). You will be reporting to the Senior Business Unit Director, Hepatitis and Emerging Viruses and be part of the Business Unit Leadership team.

You will be responsible for leading the sales team to achieve the target market share for Gilead's treatments for Hepatitis C (HCV) across the UK and Ireland. A focus for 2021 is to ensure selling excellence via remote detailing at current and as a blended model as and when the team return to in-person calls.

As our HCV treatments cure the majority of patients, a key priority is to motivate stakeholders to identify those patients infected with HCV and support them into treatment. The sales function has a role to play regarding patient finding within the limits of Gilead's code of conduct and the relevant industry codes for each country.

In England, the TS role is 50% allocated to non-promotional activity, working within the cross-functional territory team to support patient finding within drug treatment services, where there is a high prevalence of HCV. This is undertaken within a framework created by NHS England which encourages a greater degree of partnership working.

Gilead recently acquired a pre-launch product for treating Hepatitis D and it is expected the NSM will work to scope the sales force involvement and balance of existing priorities within the available resourcing.

Specific Responsibilites:
  • Lead sales team and work effectively with the cross-functional team to deliver company and brand market share across UK&I
  • Lead territory promotional planning process and champion excellence in planning process (xKAM)
  • Coach and develop the sales team, individually and collectively to consistently deliver to a high standard and support career development
  • Contribute to BU leadership and model partnership working across functions
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant codes and policies
  • Manage sales budget to deliver demonstrable impact and on target spend
  • Establish relationships with key stakeholders as a leader, representing Gilead professionally and with respectfully whilst delivering business outcomes
  • Prepare for successful launch in the HDV market


Knowledge, Experience and Skills

Essentials:
  • Previous pharmaceutical hospital selling experience
  • Must have excellent management and people development skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through ambiguity and support change management
  • Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and negotiation skills
  • Strong strategic planner able to create a vision for the sales team and senior management
  • Excellence in cross functional account planning
  • Ability to maintain / develop and utilise a high level of product and therapeutic disease knowledge to promote the appropriate use of Gilead products to Key stakeholders
  • Achievement of any mandatory pharmaceutical sales qualification, in relevant country, is essential.
  • Typically requires a BA or BS degree, preferably in the sciences or business-related disciplines and solid traceable experience in pharmaceutical or relevant industry, relevant therapeutic experience.


Desirable:
  • Previous leadership experience in managing sales teams
  • Experience in innovative product launches
  • Experience working in Hepatitis C
