What You Will Achieve

As a Senior Associate Scientist, you will be at the center of our operations and you'll find that everything we do, every day, is in line with an unwavering commitment to quality. You will be responsible for supporting the preclinical evaluation and early clinical development of candidate viral vaccines. You will support molecular cloning, RNA generation, and RNA characterization to help optimize vaccine design strategies for our RNA-based vaccine programs. You will also maintain cell lines and perform cell-based assays to assess in vitro expression and immune responses elicited by vaccine candidates. Your skills and expertise will ensure that all work is to be done in a compliant manner according to relevant Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) guidelines and Good Lab Practices cGLP and/or cGMP guidelines where appropriate. Your significant experience of applying knowledge of principles, concepts, and practices of the discipline will make you a critical member of the team. You are proactive in contributing to all team discussions and creating an environment of collaboration. How You Will Achieve It

  • Apply molecular biology and cell biology to advance and optimize our RNA-based vaccine technology.
  • Perform molecular techniques that include (but are not limited to) recombinant DNA techniques, sequence analysis, DNA/RNA isolation, RT-qPCR/ddPCR, RNA manipulation and analysis.
  • Maintain cell lines and perform relevant in vitro cell-based assays to characterize and evaluate vaccine candidates
  • In collaboration with manager, interpret and summarize experimental data. Present experimental results at group meetings as needed.
  • Generate and characterize reagents used to perform necessary assays and support maintenance of laboratory supplies.
  • Maintain laboratory notebooks in compliance with the Pfizer Laboratory Notebook Policy.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Satisfactorily completes all safety and quality training in conformance with Departmental requirements.


Qualifications

Must-Have

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Virology, or a related scientific field.
  • MS with minimum 2+ years of laboratory research experience, or BS with 4+ years of laboratory research experience.
  • Hands-on experience with standard molecular biology techniques (eg. PCR, cloning, DNA/RNA production and purification, sequencing, etc.)
  • Hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture and cell-based assays
  • Ability to use relevant scientific software to perform analysis of data
  • Proficiency with word processing, Excel, Graphpad, and Powerpoint.
  • Must be detail oriented; possess problem solving skills, and the ability to handle multiple tasks.
  • Must possess good interpersonal and communication skills and be a team player in a cross-functional collaborative environment.
