ROLE SUMMARY

Pfizer Boulder R&D is looking to grow its drug discovery and chemical biology capabilities. We are seeking a results-driven synthetic organic chemist to help evaluate and integrate new medicinal chemistry strategies, and to support our biology departments through the design and synthesis of tool compounds, novel tags, and chemical probes.

In this role, you will be a key contributor to our efforts to identify new biological targets and suitable medicinal chemistry strategies to drug them. You will be expected to use your expertise and creativity to design, synthesize, and refine compounds that enable lead screening campaigns, evaluation of biological targets, and feasibility studies around novel technologies.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide chemistry support for several projects in parallel by designing new tool compounds and synthetically executing designed routes in the lab.
  • Influence the projects through troubleshooting and advocating novel approaches and methods.
  • Collaborate across functional areas with other departments
  • Evaluate complex data sets
  • Keep current with the drug discovery literature as pertinent to ongoing projects and overall objective of the role
  • Present results and conclusions in a clear and concise manner to project management
  • Mentor/lead/manage other chemistry team members
  • Publish and present internally and externally to Pfizer


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Doctorate level degree in relevant area of science, or BS/MS with equivalent industrial experience
  • Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in the pharmaceutical industry
  • Ability to scientifically challenge others in a constructive manner and demonstrates exceptional team working skills
  • Track record of delivering high impact contributions to medicinal chemistry projects
  • Expert working knowledge of organic chemistry


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Knowledge in biochemistry and/or biology

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to perform data analysis
  • Ability to safely work in a chemistry lab (standing, lifting, walking, bending)


For roles based in Colorado:

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $106,300 to $177,100 . In addition, this position offers an annual bonus with a target of 17.5% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program. Benefits offered include a retirement savings plan, paid vacation, holiday and personal days, paid caregiver/parental and medical leave, and health benefits to include medical, prescription drug, dental and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans.
