Research Project Manager Internal Medicine - Clinical

The mission of The University of Texas M. D. The primary purpose of the Research Project Manager position is to create, facilitate, and support the scientific and technical components of research programmatic activities within the Division of Internal Medicine. This position would be primarily responsible for scientific and technical oversight of new initiative activities, and research administration.

KEY FUNCTIONS

* Ability to demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of theories, concepts, practices and policies to support complex and/or unprecedented. situations across multiple functional areas related to all large-scale grants, protocols and scientific collaborations, both internal and external.

* Provides solutions to scientific challenges by making recommendations to establish consensus among key project members

* Manages post award scientific process and coordination of activities as it pertains to large scale grant submissions.

* Writes and edits scientific components for Divisional communications and departmental grant submissions and coordinates with PI collaborators.

* Attends all programmatic research meetings and monitors project progression, deliverables, project timelines and sponsor deliverables in conjunction with research team.

* Monitors project intake with research team and supports prioritization of research project tasks and develops timelines.

* Interprets results and research outcomes in order to best represent research progress in presentation and graphical formats.

* Knowledgeable in aspects of programmatic initiatives to be able to evaluate scientific challenges that may impact the project as it relates to budget support.

* Assists with the coordination of departmental working groups facilitating collaborations and future science endeavors.

* Develops, compiles, and writes scientific reports utilizing complex research data, and submits summaries and progress reports to Divisional leadership.

* Provide oversight and monitor activities related to clinical trial activities in the Division.

* Assists in resource justification/utilization for current and future projects to include equipment, personnel and space.

* Assists Director of Research and Development in development and review of all documents (presentations, grant proposals, and reports) for division wide programs and sponsor submissions.

* Supervises activities pertaining to development of workflows for project intake and biomarker analyses in research and CLIA environments.

EDUCATION:
Required: Master's degree in one of the natural sciences or related field.

Preferred: Ph.D. degree in one of the natural sciences or related field.

EXPERIENCE:
Required: Six years experience in scientific or experimental research to include two years as a project manager. With preferred degree, four years scientific or experimental research experience to include one year as a project manager.

Preferred: Experience with clinical trial workflow process and study design; submitting grants and general grant knowledge; strong technical and editing experience; project management software/tools.
