Applications are invited for post-doctoral research associate positions in the laboratory of Dr. Kumuda C Das, in the Department of Internal Medicine at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, Lubbock, Texas.

The laboratory is well equipped with stat-of-the art equipment for cardiovascular and pulmonary research. Major equipment in house includes Vevo 3100 echocardiography, DMT pressure and wire myographs, mouse radiotelemetry system, Bruker EMX Micro EPR system, Mitochondrial function analysis system with XFe24 and other common laboratory instruments such as PCR, gel-doc systems, isolated perfused heart function (Lagendorff) system, pulmonary function analysis system and high-resolution microscopes. The core facility of TTUHSC includes several cutting-edge equipment and tool for cell molecular biology research.

The area of investigation includes hypertension, ischemia reperfusion injury of heart and remote ischemic preconditioning.

The candidate should have a PhD in any field of life sciences such as physiology, biochemistry, cell biology, pharmacology or other from an accredited university or Institute with a minimum of 2-5 publications in well regarded peer review journals.

The ideal candidate must have experience in small animal (mice/rat) surgery. Prior experience in ischemia-reperfusion surgery is a plus. Additionally, excellent molecular biology skills are required for quantitative PCR, cloning, primary cell isolation, mutagenesis, and other related techniques. Experience with echocardiography, wire myography and langendorff isolated heart model is a plus. The post-doctoral associate is expected to work without supervision, analyze data, maintain accurate experimental record and write manuscripts for publication. The ability to independently work in a research project is a requirement, and the fellow should be a team player and get along well with his/her peers in the laboratory.

The position is NIH grant funded and requires timely completion of the research outlined in the NIH proposal.

Salary will commensurate with experience and skill of the candidate.
