Postdoctoral Research in Neuroblastoma Tumor Genomics

The Largaespada lab at the University of Minnesota Masonic Cancer Center is seeking a Postdoctoral Associate to perform research work focused on the role of FOXR2 in high risk neuroblastoma development. Studies will involve utilization of cutting-edge mouse models, tissue culture, biochemical methods and molecular biology. Extensive genomic characterization of human and mouse models of neuroblastoma will be performed. The role of FOXR2 in control of MYC function and cell signaling. Methods to target FOXR2 high tumors will be investigated.

Responsibilities

20%: Animal husbandry and maintenance, necrospy and dissection, record keeping and molecular analyses of tumor and normal tissues using the polymerase chain reaction, western blotting, immunohistochemistry, and other techniques.

40%: Cellular biology, molecular biology, and biochemistry with established cell lines and primary tissues.

20%: Bioinformatics analyses including DNA and RNA sequencing studies.

20%: Designing and leading experiments including the supervision of technical staff and undergraduate research students.

Required Qualifications:

All required qualifications must be documented on application materials. 

  • Ph.D. degree in a biomedical sciences area such as genetics, immunology, molecular biology, and pharmacology.
  • At least 4 years of primary research lab experience is required including a strong track record of primary research publications.
  • Strong communication skills are also essential including experience presenting at national/international conferences.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong evidence of functional genomics capabilities
  • Coursework in genetics and biochemistry
  • Biostatistics classes
  • Bioinfomatics experience
  • Strong communication skills including experience presenting at national/international conferences.
