What You Will Achieve

As a Senior Scientist, you will be at the center of our operations and you'll find that everything we do, every day, is in line with an unwavering commitment to quality. You will be part of Pfizer's Worldwide Research & Development in a group that uses a multidisciplinary approach to identify and validate targets in cancer cell cycle and tumor microenvironment with the objective to develop the next generation of oncology therapeutics. You will help the team achieve their objective through your substantial experience in protein display technologies, especially phage and mammalian display along with extensive hands-on in mammalian cell culture and protein biochemistry.

You will be instrumental in setting up and optimizing a novel platform for antibody discovery. You will also balance library screening and target validation responsibilities. With your deep knowledge of the discipline, you will be an active team member whose decisions impact the project. You will be recognized as a technical expert and a scientific contributor. You will be using your scientific judgment to adapt standard methods and techniques by applying prior work experience. You will be forecasting and planning resource requirements for your project team. Your creativity in developing novel processes and new ideas will be used frequently. You will undertake mentoring activities to guide team members.

How You Will Achieve It

  • Regularly contribute and influence at the project team level.
  • Contribute to building a culture that embraces scientific excellence, urgency, partnerships with key stakeholders, and continuous learning and improvement.
  • Establish and execute molecular and cell-based assays across a wide variety of technical platforms to assess target modulation and its impact on immune function and
    tumor-susceptibility, cell viability and cell cycle disruption, transcription and downstream signal transduction.
  • Responsible for biosensor assay development to evaluate protein-protein interactions including antibodies, drug targets from Human and surrogate species, soluble receptors, and receptor ligands to support the development and characterization of biotherapeutic drug incumbents.
  • Present research results and discuss methods at weekly and/or monthly group meetings.


Qualifications

Must-Have

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 9+ years of experience
  • Strong documented experience in protein biochemistry, protein purification, protein modification using enzymatic and chemical methods, and biophysical characterization
  • Experience with antibody engineering in developing immunotherapeutics
  • Experience and knowledge in operation of modern mass spectrometry platforms and associated data analysis packages
  • Expert level knowledge of assay development methodologies for binding and functional activity
  • Ability to deliver results on goals in a fast-paced, dynamic and highly multi-tasking environment
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills


Nice-to-Have

  • Master's degree with 7+ years of experience or PhD with 0-3 years of relevant experience
  • Background in immuno-oncology and/or experience in target identification/validation
  • Experience with methods for successful purification of integral membrane proteins
  • Computational skills using Biacore, Octet, Microsoft Excel, and other applications designed to evaluate, process, and manage biosensor data
