Postdoctoral Position in Genomic Analysis Of Mammalian Development and Human Structural Birth Defects.

Job Summary:

An NIH-funded postdoctoral position is immediately available in the Center for Developmental Biology and Regenerative Medicine at the Seattle Children’s Research Institute, in partnership with the University of Washington Department of Genome Sciences and the Brotman Baty Institute. This project is a collaborative effort between David Beier, MD PhD, and Jay Shendure, MD PhD, to study the mechanisms contributing to structural birth defects. The primary task will be to manage the husbandry and preparation of embryonic mutant mice for single cell RNA sequencing, and to perform comparative computational analysis of the data.

This is part of a larger program project to use state-of-the art sequencing and imaging methods to pursue discovery and functional analysis of genes required for normal mammalian development and organogenesis.

The post-doctoral fellow will develop scientific skills as appropriate for this level of training position, and carry out research/development activities in support of assigned research projects.  Responsibilities include protocol development and review, data collection and analysis, manuscript and fellowship application preparation, and training in the conduct of laboratory and computational research.
