Brief summary: The Waxman Lab at Boston University has funded research openings in Genomics/Epigenetics: Molecular Endocrinology and Environmental Toxicology

--------------------------------------

Department of Biology and Bioinformatics Program, Boston University

We are seeking Postdoctoral Associates for NIH R01-funded research projects in genomics and epigenetics in the fields of molecular endocrinology and environmental toxicology, with an interest in obtaining advanced training using innovative single cell-based next generation sequencing and epigenomic remodeling technologies to study the dysregulation of gene expression and chromatin states in mouse models of liver disease. We are especially interested in candidates with strong prior experience in molecular biology and/or computational biology, with specific interest in areas such as genomics, epigenetics, NGS technologies, liver disease, and/or mouse models of disease.

The research will draw from a broad spectrum of advanced techniques in epigenetics, including in vivo epigenetic reprogramming and NGS technologies, and will include opportunities for training in bioinformatics data analysis. In one project, we are studying the role of long non-coding RNAs in hormonal regulation of chromatin states controlling sex-biased gene expression in mouse models of liver disease; and in a second project we are investigating the persistent disruptive actions of environmental chemicals that activate transcription factors from the nuclear receptor (NR) superfamily, which can induce developmental and adult disease-associated toxicities. The research will be tailored to meet the individual qualifications and interests of the Postdoctoral Associate, who will play a direct role in designing as well as conducting independent research.

Both recent PhD graduates and more experienced researchers with a strong publication record, outstanding career potential, and a strong motivation to succeed are encouraged to apply to strengthen our multidisciplinary team. For further details, see https://tinyurl.com/WaxmanLabPostdoc.

Send CV and research statement to: Dr. David Waxman, at djw@bu.edu. Please include a cover letter that introduces yourself, gives context for your application, and describes your interests in either one or both of the projects outlined above.

Essential Qualifications:

A PhD or equivalent degree in Cell and Molecular Biology, Genomics, Bioinformatics/Computational Biology or a related field in life sciences is preferred. The ability to initiate, conduct, evaluate and report independent research studies is essential. Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, and excellent communication skills in both spoken and written English are also required.

Desired Skills: some combination of the skills below

  • Genomics, Epigenetics, and /or Transcriptomics
  • NGS technologies
  • Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or Systems Biology
  • Molecular biology, Gene delivery, CRISPR
  • Mouse models

About the employer: The laboratory is well funded and positions are available immediately. Boston University is located in the heart of one of the world’s most vibrant biopharma/biotechnology communities.
