Numerous postdoctoral research fellow positions are available to work in the general area of lipid metabolism and signaling in the Mashek laboratory at the University of Minnesota. Specific areas of focus including the following:
Novel genetic and dietary mouse and/or fly models of aging and healthspan – defining the biochemical underpinnings of the Mediterranean Diet, fasting regiments, and lipid metabolism on healthspan
- Expertise in animal husbandry and phenotyping preferred
Spatiotemporal control of metabolism – defining how organelle interactions (especially lipid droplets) compartmentalize metabolism and signaling
- Expertise in microscopy and cell biology preferred
Nutrient sensing and regulation of protein acylation – defining how lipids regulate protein modifications to couple diet to protein function
- Strong biochemistry and mass spec/proteomics skills preferred

Qualifications: Highly motivated candidates with a broad interest in metabolism and desire to work in a supportive and collaborative environment are encouraged to apply. Applicants should hold a PhD or equivalent by the time of hire. Prior research experiences in relevant areas are preferred but all eligible applicants will be considered. More experienced candidates are expected to have demonstrable publication record.
