Job Details
The Immunology department at MD Anderson Cancer Center seeks to determine the fundamental cellular and molecular mechanisms of a wide range of processes by which the body recognizes and eliminates pathogens and use these findings to unleash the patient's own immune system against previously treatment-resistant cancers. Treating the immune system rather than the cancer itself, the therapeutics developed are applicable to many cancers.

Required: Ph.D. in one of the natural sciences or related field or Medical degree.
Experience
Required: Three years of experience in experimental or scientific work.
Preferred: Immunology and wet lab experience.

KEY FUNCTIONS
Research Projects
- Independently plans, organizes, coordinates, directs and executes scientific research projects.
- Organizes and analyzes data for publications and meeting presentations.
- Supervises the design, development, or adapting of protocols and techniques used in experiments or research to obtain desired results. Plans and supervises the training of other laboratory personnel with respect to proper laboratory techniques and use of laboratory equipment.
Lab Functions
- Functions in an independent manner in composing scientific questions and in designing, performing, interpreting and troubleshooting of experiments.
- Supervises the design, development, or adapting of protocols and techniques used in research to obtain desired results.
- Determines specific goals or objectives to attain, evaluates resulting research data, and revises techniques or approaches to work problems.
Team Leadership
- Actively participates in laboratory and departmental meetings.
- Expected to use previous experience to give guidance to newer laboratory and departmental researchers, including graduate students and postdocs.
- Effectively communicates with scientific peers, including presenting work and publishing manuscripts.
- Writes SOPs to be used in lab and department.
- Other duties as assigned.
