A postdoctoral position is available in the Department of Cellular and Molecular Biology at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler, in Tyler TX under Dr. Andrey A. Komissarov.

The individual will participate in a modern translational project focused on Molecular Targeting and Development of Innovative Treatments of Advanced Empyema.  Animal models involve USDA Regulated Species (rabbits).  The project includes sample collection and analysis, tissue processing, tissue culture, storage, and processing.  Slide preparations, histologic and immunohistochemical techniques and other biochemical tissue analyses as required. Duties include performing independent research, carrying out experiments, analyzing results and their presentation (abstracts, posters, papers). The study requires extensive additional independent animal husbandry duty (that may include evening and weekend observations/pain support) and required clinical support under the supervision of an attending veterinarian/vivarium staff.  The position includes opportunity for further career development.

Required Education / Experience:

Doctoral degree in one of the life sciences with 3+ years of relevant wet laboratory experience and working knowledge of relevant laboratory procedures.  

We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in biochemistry and cell biology, as well as the ability to think critically and independently, and with a track record of productivity. 

This position is initially a one-year appointment, with yearly extensions expected depending on progress and performance, up to 4 years. Postdoctoral Research

A NIH- and DOD-funded postdoctoral research associate or research associate positions with full benefits are available immediately to study the mechanisms that contribute to chronic lung diseases (COPD and lung fibrosis). The area of research focuses molecular biology of membrane receptors, transcriptional mediators and drug development/delivery. We invite applications from highly motivated MS, PhD, MD, or equivalent with strong background in membrane receptors or macrophage biology or a related discipline.  A candidate with skills and experience in molecular biology, protein-protein or protein-DNA/RNA interactions, gene regulation, telomere dysfucntion, mucus cell metaplasia, macrophage activation by extracellular visicles, flow cytometry and drug development/delivery and animal study are preferred. The candidate will be expected to learn new techniques and develop independent avenues of research.
