The Center for Genomic Epidemiology (CGE), Division of Infectious Diseases, Department of Medicine, University of Pittsburgh, is recruiting an Assistant Professor in the tenure stream. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to ongoing CGE research efforts and eventually form independent research focused on topics that are relevant to CGE research. A major focus of CGE is using genomics to understand transmission and evolution of bacteria (e.g., multidrug-resistant gram negative bacteria, MRSA, VRE) and respiratory viruses (e.g., SARS-CoV-2 and influenza), both in healthcare and the community. Desirable skills include extensive experience in a variety of next generation sequencing (NGS) platforms, detailed analysis of NGS data, and combining sequence data with electronic health record/epidemiologic data to make inferences about pathogen transmission. There are ample opportunities for collaboration across the University and for a joint academic appointment in the Graduate School of Public Health. Interested candidates should send a CV and cover letter outlining research interests and interest in the position to Lorraine Pollini at ID.Employment@pitt.edu.
