Laboratory of Immune System Biology

Postdoctoral Fellowship

The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) conducts and supports a global program of research to better understand, treat, and ultimately prevent infectious, immunologic, and allergic diseases. The Laboratory of Immune System Biology within the NIAID Division of Intramural Research (DIR) located on the main NIH Campus in Bethesda, Maryland, is seeking candidates for a computational biology postdoctoral fellow position within the Computational Systems Biology Section. This fully funded position will allow the successful candidate to work in a highly collaborative interdisciplinary environment as part of a team of experimentalists and computational modelers.

The postdoctoral project’s focus will be on developing novel techniques for simulating cellular behavior and pathway signaling dynamics using high-performance computation techniques.

The position will offer the opportunity to combine computer-based work with gathering experience in experimental work.

Requirements

  • Experience in programming (ideally C/C++ and Python)
  • Ability and desire to work in a collaborative environment
  • Interest in quantitative (‘systems’) biology approaches
  • Good communication skills

Some background in physics, engineering, or mathematics would be a plus.

To apply, interested candidates should send their curriculum vitae (CV), bibliography, three references who may be contacted for letters, and a short statement about their skill set to Dr. Martin Meier-Schellersheim at mschellersheim@nih.gov.

HHS, NIH, and NIAID are equal opportunity employers. NIH is dedicated to building a diverse community through its training and employment programs.
