Role Summary

Biochemistry and Quantitative Pharmacology of the Pfizer Oncology Research Division in La Jolla, CA is seeking a full-time scientist to join our drug discovery team. The scientist will make significant contributions to the discovery and pre-clinical development of oncology therapeutics and will contribute to our molecular understanding of the roles of cell cycle enzymes in cancer. They will be actively engaged in drug discovery activities, including enzyme and inhibitor characterizations and selectivity profiling.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for running robust, and reproducible assays using cutting-edge technologies and instrumentation.
  • Ongoing activities will include kinetic and mechanistic studies to characterize targets, biochemical pathways, and mechanism of action of lead compounds.
  • The scientist will be responsible for testing compounds in biochemical assays, analyzing data, database publishing, and participating in project teams.
  • Functioning as an efficient, effective, and collegial collaborator across diverse scientific expertise is essential for this position.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelors with a minimum of 3+ years of experience or Masters degree with 0-3 years of work experience.
  • Assay development and screening experience
  • Computational experience and working with large data sets.
  • Possess strong written/verbal communication skills and ability to effectively collaborate with scientists.
