We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join the Discovery Analytical Sciences department at our Upper Providence US site. As part of the Biological Mass Spectrometry group you will work with chemists and biologists to accelerate and advance the discovery of small molecule medicines by applying mass spectrometry and proteomic methods to understanding how potential drugs influence cellular function. Your key responsibilities will include d eveloping, validating and implementing mass spectrometry-based protein assays and proteomics experiments to support various projects and initiatives. A strong collaborative spirit is essential, as this team interfaces with many other disciplines across the drug discovery space. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, and able to help deliver the core mission of the group, while also seeking out and implementing novel analytical MS methods to advance the state of the art in drug discovery. The position requires an individual with strong technical skills, in both instrumentation and problem solving. A demonstrated understanding of mass spectrometry-based quantitative techniques and proteomic workflows is required.

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
  • PhD in Analytical Chemistry, Cell Biology, Biochemistry or related discipline.
  • Experience in cell biology research and using mass spectrometry to studying protein function in cells.
  • Experience with nano-LC systems and Orbitrap mass spectrometers. Experience troubleshooting and maintaining complex instrumentation to the highest level of performance.
  • Experience developing and applying proteomics workflows including the analysis of protein posttranslational modifications.
  • Experience with proteomics MS software for data analysis and solid understanding of bioinformatic methods to interpret and validate results
  • Experience with basic protein biochemistry and proteomic sample preparation techniques.


Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:
  • Track record of mass spectrometry-based protein PTM analysis
  • Understanding and knowledge of multi-omics platforms
  • Strong grasp of data analysis tools for large, complex data sets.
  • Experience in cell culture techniques
  • Strategic vision and ability to recognize and implement novel technologies contributing to projects as demonstrated by publications, patents, presentations.
  • Highly self-motivated with good organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Outstanding people skills and ability to motivate and influence co-workers and peers.
  • Established track record of working in a multidisciplinary, matrix environment
