GSK Pharma R&D is seeking innovative leaders to help improve the global clinical supply chain through advanced data analytics. These individuals will apply their technical and leadership skills to improve overall clinical supply chain delivery performance to patients, identify opportunities to eliminate waste in the supply chain, and identify hidden risks in the supply chain. These individuals will also need to lead and educate business users on data analytics best practice to drive performance improvement.

This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career. These responsibilities include some of the following:

  • Analyze disparate data sources, producing insights to uncover opportunities to optimize the supply chain

  • Develop novel algorithms, predictive modelling solutions and embed them into the organization to unlock business value

  • Collaborate with clinical supply chain teams in process mapping, data extraction/modeling/visualization, quality and process optimization initiatives

  • Build strong relationships with key functional stakeholders

  • Clearly document technical and business requirements from stakeholders and learn to work using Agile methods

  • Support automated data extractions and intermediate transformation platforms

  • Effectively work with IT professionals to deliver industrialized data science solutions



Basic Qualifications:

  • At least 3-5 years experience as a data scientist in an industrial environment

  • Advanced degree (MS or PhD) from an accredited institution in Data Science, Mathematics, Computer Science, Industrial/Process Engineering or related statistical, computational or engineering discipline.

  • Background in statistical modelling, mathematical modelling, mathematical foundations of ML and Deep Learning algorithms.

  • 0-3 years' experience working in matrix leadership roles or in direct line management of teams with data science and non-data science background.

  • Experience leading projects to conceptualize, formulate, prototype and implement algorithms to solve complex business problems.

  • Experience compiling, integrating, and analysing datasets from multiple sources to answer business questions using query languages such as SQL, SPARQL, HIVEQL etc and programming languages like Python or R.

  • Experience using data visualization and reporting tools (e.g. Spotfire, Tableau, Microsoft Power BI etc)



Preferred Qualifications:
  • Able to motivate, inspire and mentor colleagues within the Data Science team to develop technical excellence

  • Ability to guide other data scientists on strategies to deal with issues across the data science lifecycle.

  • Exhibits continuous learning to keep abreast of latest and greatest developments in machine learning and deep learning methods.

  • Experience communicating advanced data science concepts to business stakeholders and non-experts. Sensitive to customer needs and can develop good relationships across teams

  • Practical experience deploying machine learning algorithms into production.



If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • Experience in Linear Algebra, time series modelling or graph methods

  • Experience with pharmaceutical clinical supply chain

  • Experience with developing solutions using AGILE methods and using tools like JIRA, Confluence, Github.
