The candidate will provide scientific and technical expertise and work closely with other disciplines across Pfizer to initiate and drive discovery research programs into early clinical development. Specifically, the candidate will identify unique tumor-specific micro-environmental cues that impact T cell function, differentiation, and trafficking using a variety of tools including, molecular, cellular, and biochemical techniques, as well as modern imaging techniques, systems immunology, bioinformatics, and preclinical in vitro and in vivo models. The successful candidate will be a subject matter expert motivated to innovate and succeed in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Discover and develop new small and large molecule therapeutic modalities for cancer immunotherapy.
  • Design and perform studies to evaluate the anatomical distribution, persistence, and function of antigen-specific T cells in preclinical models of cancer.
  • Design and execute mechanistic, PD, and biomarker studies for preclinical-stage therapies using in vivo mouse models and ex vivo assays, including but not limited to multi-parameter flow cytometry, gene expression analysis techniques, and functional assays.
  • Work in a matrixed environment and collaborate with multiple disciplines to identify and pursue the most promising drug candidates.
  • Participate and present in internal and external project meetings as well as at site and cross-site meetings.
  • Communicate experimental findings accurately and concisely in both oral and written formats.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Strong track record of scientific accomplishments in the field of T cell biology, including function, differentiation, and/or memory development.
  • Broad technical expertise in assessing T cell phenotype and function in vivo/ex vivo (flow cytometry, qRT-PCR, MSD, confocal microscopy).
  • Experience investigating T cell-specific inhibitory/co-stimulatory molecules and their associated signal transduction pathways (western blot, reporter assays).
  • Experience with genome editing approaches in cell lines/primary cells (CRISPR, lentiviral transduction).
  • Experience with murine/human T cell functional assays (e.g. activation, differentiation, proliferation, cytotoxic and suppression assays).
  • Experience with murine tumor and/or infectious disease models.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to perform complex data analysis.
