The Wan lab at the University of Missouri (MU) Bond Life Sciences Center is seeking multiple Postdoc Research Associates in the area of  Virology at the Influenza Systems Biology Laboratory, which is affiliated across Department of Molecular Microbiology and Immunology, School of Medicine, Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, College of Engineering, Department of Veterinary Pathobiology, College of Veterinary Medicine, and MU Institute for Data Science and Informatics at University of Missouri (MU). The lab has accesses to the regional BSL3 and ABSL-3 biocontainment laboratory at the Laboratory of Infectious Diseases Laboratory.

The Wan lab research focuses on emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases, especially influenza and SARS-CoV-2 viruses, by developing and applying integrated, multi-scale, and evidence-based approaches that combining laboratory, clinical and computational methods.

The responsibilities of the position include are 1) to study molecular mechanisms of virus transmission, pathogenesis, and immunological responses for influenza and SARS-CoV-2 viruses; 2) to develop and apply novel methods for influenza vaccine strain selection; 3) to study the impacts of repeated vaccination and/or infections on vaccine effectiveness; and/or 4) to develop novel vaccines and antiviral therapy for influenza and SARS-CoV-2 viruses.
