A Senior Scientist position is available within the Cell Line Development (CLD) group in Bioprocess R&D (BRD). The successful applicant will be responsible for the development and characterization of mammalian cell lines for the clinical / commercial manufacture of recombinant protein products. The position will be lab based, but the successful applicant will also aspire to provide strong technical and strategic leadership while making contributions to multi-disciplinary / cross-functional development project teams to ensure efficient and timely execution of CLD deliverables. Opportunities exist for the successful candidate to expand and grow leadership responsibilities as experience is gained over time.

The Senior Scientist will be a champion of innovation to ensure CLD's technology leadership. They will drive improvements to CLD technologies, practices and infrastructure to ensure impactful organizational evolution and continuous technology enhancements. The successful applicant will contribute to the development of robust, efficient, scalable strategies and technologies for improving the processes used to derive recombinant production cell lines, and the requisite productivity, stability and product quality outcomes. The applicant will also have a keen awareness of bioinformatic tools, with the vision of how to apply them to solve challenges faced.

This role requires a highly motivated individual with the ability to work closely with other members of a laboratory group and the department in a matrix team environment. This position will also work closely with the other BioProcess R&D functions to facilitate the timely delivery of cell lines to meet Reg Tox and clinical supply objectives and will work across sites to ensure that best practices are employed. The Senior Scientist will be responsible for the preparation and review of internal technical reports. The position will also require oral presentations internally to scientists and management, and external presentations and publications as appropriate.

Roleresponsibilities:

Strong theoretical understanding and practical experience with relevant scientific disciplines, particularly molecular biology/ cell biology/ bioinformatics and application to creating and/ or characterizing recombinant mammalian cell lines

Demonstrated leadership success in project management. Demonstrated ability to drive for results and lead innovation and change. Collaborative, team-oriented leadership style essential.

Organized, self-motivated, and capable of working independently and in a collaborative, multi-site environment. Strong oral and written communication skills.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • PhD in molecular biology, bioinformatics, or related field
  • 0-4 years of relevant experience, including postdoctoral training
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture and recombinant protein production

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

The ability to stand at the lab bench to conduct experiments, sit for extended periods at a desk to complete

documentation and computer work, and the ability to lift up to 25 lbs
