Job Details

The primary purpose of the Sr. Coordinator, Research Data position is

Provides administrative and clinical research support for the coordination of research studies. Impacts the

clinical trial patients in designated protocol and the efficiency and effectiveness of research conducted in the

UGI (Gastric and Esophageal) Cancer program in the Department of GI Medical Oncology.

Key Functions

  1. Data/ Protocol Management: Screens and enrolls patients to research protocols, including taking informed consent in accordance with federal regulations. Maintains a level of professional expertise and credibility through continuing education programs as shown by conference and class attendance records.


  1. Data Collection: Coordinates and maintains RedCap database systems to effectively manage large volumes of patient/research data, for clinical studies. Maintains database for tracking specimens with high level of accuracy, as evidenced by observation of supervisor. Established files/records can be easily be found by others. Computerizes files for tracking purposes. Visually reviews data for correctness and edits as necessary with RN oversight.


  1. Audit Preparation: Visually reviews data for correctness and edits as necessary .Visually reviews information to be filed in order to classify, files and purge information. Maintains schedules for timely submission of data to the funding sources and IRB committee. Develops and organizes protocol binders for active protocols.


  1. Assists in research grant submissions such as R01 (NCI grants), Department of Defense grants. Develops and maintains a library of reference documentation , including all research-related compliance documentation are current (IACUC/ACURO/HRPO approvals).


  1. Assists in the post awards for Clinical trials. Assist in generating invoices for sponsors, by working on the Course data logs to oversee the patient screenings and visits for the research protocol.


  1. Obtains outside pathology slides or request pathology slides within the institution following institutional guidelines and policies. Registers protocols on tissue station as required by institutional policy. Collects research blood samples and research tissue per protocol. Mails research tissue samples to designated sponsor or certified lab per protocol using the proper procedures for Shipping and Handling of Infectious and Biological materials.


  1. Helps with statistical analysis of data when needed and coordinates with statisticians working with the team.


  1. Other duties as assigned.


High school diploma or equivalent. Preferred Education: Bachelor's degree Four years of related experience. With preferred degree, no experience required.
