Assistant/Associate Professor of Biochemistry

The Department of Biomedical Sciences at Cooper Medical School of Rowan University (CMSRU) is seeking applications for a full-time, tenure track, Assistant/Associate Professor position.  The Department of Biomedical Sciences is composed of faculty with broad interests in biomedical research and medical education.  A major focus of this position is on medical education in areas of biochemistry, molecular biology, and physiology with special consideration given to candidates with documented medical school teaching experience.  The CMSRU curriculum emphasizes small-group active learning and practical application sessions.  Experience with clinical case-based, team-based, and self-directed active learning methodology is highly desirable.

The successful candidate will also be expected to develop a sustainable program of independent research.  Current areas of research in the department include cell biology, cancer, inflammation, cardiovascular disease, bone and joint disease, and neurology.  Applicants with interests in these areas are especially encouraged to apply; however, all applicants will be considered.  New laboratory space, a start-up package, and competitive salary are offered.

The minimum requirements for the position are a Ph.D. degree, post-doctoral experience, evidence of sustained scholarly output, and excellent written and spoken communication skills.  Although flexible, the expected start date for the position is July 1, 2021.  Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US.
