Tenure Track Assistant, Associate or Full Professor in Cell and Molecular Biology, University of Hawaii at Manoa

The John A. Burns School of Medicine at the University of Hawaii at Manoa invites applications for an open rank tenure track faculty position in the Department of Cell and Molecular Biology.  Responsibilities include teaching graduate, undergraduate and/or medical students and leading a nationally competitive basic and/or translational biomedical research program. Successful candidates will be expected to seek and sustain funding from the NIH and/or other funding sources, and to maintain a strong, independent research program. Broad areas of expertise spanning cell and molecular biology and related fields will be considered.

The Department is comprised of 11 faculty, and houses an Interdisciplinary Cell and Molecular Biology Graduate Program and a Neurosciences Specialization. Research interests of current faculty include neurological development, neurodegenerative and neuropsychiatric diseases, energy metabolism and metabolic disorders, inflammation and immunity, calcification and mineralization of vasculature, ion channel function and pathologies, antibiotic resistance and Superbugs, and DNA forensics and the Innocence Project.

Located near downtown Honolulu, the John A. Burns School of Medicine occupies state-of-the-art research, medical education and administration facilities, completed in 2005, and adjacent UH Cancer Center facilities occupied in 2013. Research incubator space is under construction nearby. Core facilities include ABSL-3/BSL-3 Biocontainment, Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Genomics, Histopathology, Microscopy and Imaging, Molecular and Cellular Immunology, Murine Behavioral and Metabolic Research, Murine Cardiovascular Phenotyping Core, Human and Murine Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Transgenics.
