The primary focus is on the growth portfolio namely dolutegravir and cabotegravir based regimens as well as other assets and asset combinations from phase IIb through to in-market such as Tivicay, Triumeq as well as Juluca, Dovato, CAB/RPV, CAB prevention, fostemsavir, Maturation Inhibitors and other novel agents early in development pipeline.

This is a senior level medical affairs, physician-executive role and functions as the Country Medical Director in the US. In short, this physician executive will be accountable for contributing to strategic leadership while ensuring the execution of that strategy across VHC medical affairs VHC within the US. This physician executive will be a VHC US Medical Affairs expert on the external HCP environment, emerging therapeutic trends, collection and characterization of external insights, and HIV research trends. S/he will be accountable for coordinating the advice seeking activities for development of NAMA specific, commercially aligned plans, operationalizing regional evidence generation plans, and physician-led educational initiatives for external HCPs. S/he will ensure that medical affairs activities are conducted with utmost ethical and scientific integrity. This physician executive will understand how to stay at the forefront of an evolving medical organization, demonstrate strong leadership skills, and effectively work with VHC Medical Affairs leadership to drive change. S/he will have the strategic acuity and political nuance in balancing best practices for the medical organization and the overall corporate objectives. S/he will be instrumental in designing and executing on VHC medical strategy that will evolve and enhance the US medical affairs organization. With a rich portfolio of products and a promising pipeline, this executive will drive pivotal portfolios recognized as major contributors to VHC's present and future growth.

This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career, these responsibilities include some of the following:
  • Responsible for coordination of physician led Medical Affairs Activities for VHC in the United States
  • Serve as the senior physician and Country Medical Director for VHC US. This executive physician will be the voice of the US to the NAMA Head and VHC Global Pharmacovigilance. S/he will also align fully with Safety, Regulatory, and Medical Information ensuring compliance with local laws and regulations.
  • Advocate for medical data needed to support successful commercialization of US products.
  • Coordinating execution of the medical affairs plan in the US.
  • Lead, oversee and manage key physician talent in the US including:
    • Recruiting, hiring, developing and managing Regional Medical Directors and actively participate and approve all talent who indirectly report to the position (e.g., Regional Medical Leads,).
    • Providing strategic input, operational support and coordination with the other Medical teams such as the Portfolio Brand Team, Prevention Team, and Medical Liaison Organizations


  • Help set strategy for engagement plans with US health care providers, payers, integrated delivery networks and other customers to obtain medical insights, understand therapeutic and customer trends
  • Be recognized as a trusted partner with commercial and all medical partners providing medical guidance and input and aligning and supporting promotional engagement strategy.


Why you?

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:
  • Physician
  • Minimum 5 years of experience conducting clinical trials and/or working in the pharmaceutical industry
  • Minimum 5 years of experience providing care to patients with HIV
  • Commercialization experience with knowledge of drug development, safety, regulatory/ market access and reimbursement requirements demonstrating deep understanding of the US market
  • 5 plus years of managing a team
  • Experience in setting & leading strategy


Preferred Qualifications:

If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:
  • MD combined with MPH, MSc, PhD, or MBA
  • Previous interactions with US based KOLs, Regulatory agencies, and academic institutions
  • Record of successfully planning and executing Medical Affairs and/or clinical development strategy especially around new product launches
  • Ability to effectively work in a multidisciplinary team; cultivate collaborative working relationships between Medical Affairs and cross-functional team members
  • Ability to positively and strategically influence employees at all levels
  • Strong customer orientation/focus and ability to establish strong customer relationships
  • Ability to flex and thrive in an ambiguous environment undergoing transformational change
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding objectives and goals
  • People management and mentorship experience
  • Excellent communication (both written and oral) and presentation skills
  • Ability to effectively and efficiently manage multiple priorities
  • Strong business acumen: knows the industry, key competitors, marketplace factors/dynamics
  • Sense of urgency and accountability
  • Ability to work with new technology and in the digital space
  • Detailed working knowledge of GSK policies, medical-specific policies, e.g. scientific engagement
  • Requires business travel (25% of the time) mostly in US but occasional internationally
