Role Summary

Pfizer Oncology Research & Development (ORD) in La Jolla, California, is seeking an individual who would be passionate about using their expertise in cancer biology to make impactful contributions to developing the next generation of innovative cancer medicines. This role will require a high level of creativity, persistence and attention to detail. Strongest consideration will be given to candidates with deep expertise in either one area: senescence; transcriptional regulation; single cell-based analysis techniques. Demonstrated cancer relevance of the past research topic is required.

How You Will Achieve It
  • Actively participate in the development and progression of our next generation of small-molecule therapeutic programs
  • Work in a highly dynamic and multi-disciplinary drug discovery environment that fosters innovation
  • Define mechanisms of drug induced cancer cell senescence; or apply and develop single cell-based analysis techniques; or investigate transcription regulatory tumor cell mechanisms
  • Develop hypotheses, apply excellent technical ability at the bench and execute analysis
  • Effectively communicate findings at various cross-functional team meetings
  • Publish impactful papers


Qualifications

Must-Have
  • PhD in Cellular or Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, or related field with a minimum of 2+ years of post-doctoral experience
  • Deep expertise in either one of the three cell biological areas outlined above, as evidenced by at least one first-author publication in that field
  • Demonstrated accomplishments in cancer cell signaling
  • At least two first author publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals across past research activities
  • Strong writing, presentation and communication skills


Nice-to-Have
  • CRISPR based techniques for gene knockout or editing, or pooled CRISPR based screening approaches
  • Computational biology (e.g. R, Python)
  • Filed patent applications
