What You Will Achieve

As a Scientist, you will be at the center of our operations and you'll find that everything we do, every day, is in line with an unwavering commitment to quality. You will be part of Pfizer's Bioprocess Research & Development, Cell Banking team that is responsible for the manufacturing and storage of GMP cell banks used to produce clinical and commercial biopharmaceutical products. Your main area of focus will be leading/coordinating cell bank manufacturing-associated activities including technology transfer and investigations. You will also perform cell bank manufacturing operations (cell culture/microbial fermentation, cell bank vial filling and cryopreservation).

How You Will Achieve It
  • Contribute as a key member of the Cell Banking team to support the manufacture and storage operations for cGMP cell banks.
  • Perform cell culture/microbial fermentation activities for manufacturing of cell banks.
  • Author and manage cell bank manufacturing investigations.
  • Lead/coordinate technology transfer activities for cell bank manufacturing campaigns (e.g. developing and tracking project timelines, overseeing facility readiness, manufacturing batch record creation, materials oversite, etc.).
  • Manage cell bank inventory and distribution activities.
  • Lead scientific, technical, strategic and cGMP compliance initiatives to implement improvements in working practices.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and presentation skills and ability to troubleshoot technical issues.


  • BS/BA in biotechnology, biology, engineering or related scientific discipline.
  • 6+ years (Bachelor's degree) or 4+ years (Master's degree) of relevant laboratory/manufacturing experience.
  • Demonstrated technical background in a cGMP environment with ability to think critically and demonstrate troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong technical writing skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple activities and priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively in a team-based environment.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision.

  • Experience with mammalian cell culture and/or microbial fermentation processes.
  • Experience with Technology Transfer and/or Project Management.
  • Prior experience writing cGMP manufacturing investigations and with deviation management systems.
  • Broad technical knowledge of cell line and process development of biologics.
  • Strong and pragmatic technical problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work in cleanroom and laboratory environments, wearing appropriate gowning and personal protective equipment (PPE).

  • Position is first shift Monday through Friday.
  • Flexibility to work outside of regular shift schedule may be required to support business needs.
