ROLE SUMMARY
Pfizer's Rare Disease Research Unit (RDRU) is committed to developing therapies for rare inherited diseases. The successful candidate will join a team working on rare cardiac and neuromuscular diseases in the Discovery Biology group. This role will focus on the development and implementation of molecular and cellular biology assays, and management of in vivo studies with the goal of discovering and developing potential therapeutics using small molecule, biologics and gene therapy approaches. These efforts will be pursued in the context of a multidisciplinary and collaborative team. A Senior Associate Scientist will make significant technical contributions under moderate supervision by using established methodologies and will be encouraged to practice novel technical approaches.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and execute in vitro biochemical and cell-based assays to support rare cardiac and skeletal muscle project needs
- Interpret and present data in project meetings.
- Effectively balances resources as needed to achieve timely execution of projects across multiple research teams.
- Willingness to learn from other scientists and implementation of new techniques.
- Work collaboratively with project teams.
- Fast learner that can quickly adapt to changing project needs.
- Review relevant literature and apply learnings to projects.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- B.S. or M.S. in Biology or related discipline and at least 2 years of lab work in industry or academia.
- Experience with mammalian cell culture, assay development and molecular biology techniques such as ELISA/MSD, Western blot, PCR, Taqman, or other gene expression analysis tools.
- Experience with basic molecular biology including DNA, RNA, and protein isolation and analyses.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with culturing and differentiating induced pluripotent stem cells.
- Experience with Adeno Virus (handling, transduction, characterization).
- Experience with handling, dosing, and tissue collection in rodents.
