There are openings for a Postdoctoral Research Scientist in the laboratory of Anil K. Rustgi, MD, Director of the Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center (HICCC) at the Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC).

Columbia University is a leader in biomedical research and is a National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center. Columbia’s Vagelos School of Physicians and Surgeons is amongst the top research universities and provides an outstanding intellectual environment. The Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center (HICCC) at Columbia University Irving Medical Center provides outstanding Biomedical Research Cores. The HICCC houses 12 core facilities or shared resources that provide services essential to basic and translational cancer research, to which the applicant will have continued full access on a 24/7 basis.

Dr. Rustgi is a leader in the field of gastrointestinal oncology. His interdisciplinary research focuses on tumor initiation, the tumor microenvironment, and tumor metastasis in the context of gastrointestinal cancers, including cancer of the esophagus, pancreas, and colon. Dr. Rustgi’s lab uses mouse models, 3D culture systems, and human biosamples to translate discoveries into improving molecular diagnostics and finding new experimental therapeutics for patients, and is funded through several grants including an NCI P01, an NCI U54, two NIH R01 grants, and other grants.

Minimum Degree Required:

  • Ph.D. or MD/Ph.D.
